Duc Tran and his wife Therese Vu have been keeping two dogs as pets for sixteen years. Sadly, both died due to kidney failure. The couple felt very sad when they lost their beloved dogs, but everything changed when they met Kanga and Roo, two adorable dogs who were born with missing front legs. Their congenital disabilities were a result of inbreeding and overbreeding.
At first, their breeder took care of them for a year, but because of their special needs, they were surrendered to Angels Among Us. Despite being at the shelter for several months and attending adoption events, no one seemed to be interested in adopting them. When Therese came across a post about the brother and sister pair, she told Duc about her plan of adopting them. Since Kanga and Roo were special needs dogs, they needed to research the proper way of caring for them.
When they met the two lovely dogs, they were more than ready to give them a forever home. It only took a few seconds of building rapport for the two dogs to capture the couple’s heart. Even though they lost their dogs, Kanga and Roo filled the void in their hearts. They also adjusted easily to their new home.
Since they needed more attention than regular dogs, the couple had to cover the floors of their home with mats and blankets so it would be easy for the fur siblings to scoot around. Kanga and Roo had also found ways to get around by hopping like a kangaroo. Even though they were using wheelchairs, they still preferred to use their creative ways of exploring their new home.
Luckily, they had a good friend who happened to work with human prosthetics. Kanga and Roo received sweaters specially made from materials used in creating prosthetic limbs. The purpose of the sweater was to prevent irritation in the dogs’ bellies whenever they were scooting along the floor. The couple was thrilled to see Kanga and Roo enjoy their playtime together with their sweaters.
